Comedy On The Square is the brainchild of Vaudeville Performer Fred Anderson - in 2000 after a trip the the Edinburgh Festival Fringe - "the largest arts event in the galaxy..." he was inspired by the fantastic DIY energy to create an ongoing performance series here in San Francisco.
Beginning in March of 2003 he started producing variety arts, comedy, improv and magic at various venues both here in San Francisco and abroad.
Productions that started here have gone on to tour internationally include the premiere of Paul Nathan's "Devil in the Deck" which went on the the Edinburgh Festival. "Be A Star In A Juggling Show" which went on the the Edinburgh Festival "Frisco Fred's Comedy Hour" which went to the Festival Praha in Prague as well as the Edinburgh Festival.

About Fred Anderson - "The world's only near sighted comic/magician/juggler/escape-artist & tightrope walker"

"Frisco Fred" Anderson is a variety entertainer performing for Corporate Events, Cruise Liners and Festivals worldwide. The show is a combo of stand-up comedy, juggling, magic & escape-artistry.

Fred learned juggling way back in 1975 while studying theater & computer science at SF State. His first performances were at San Francisco's Fishermans Wharf and Marin's Renaissance Pleasure Faire in 1976 and he was instantly hooked. His performances have taken him around the world several times over including 2 World Expos, The Edinburgh Festival Fringe (5 times), Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts & The Montreal Just For Laughs Festival. He really has been "Around the world for a laugh".
